Official: Gladbach to face Man City in Budapest - Leipzig vs LFC also in Hungary
After RB Leipzig have moved their home game against Liverpool to Budapest, UEFA has confirmed that the match between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Manchester City will also take place in the Hungarian capital. The Foals will face the Citizens at the Puskás Aréna on Feb. 24 at 20:00 GMT. Leipzig will play one week earlier on Feb. 16.
Borussia Mönchengladbach confirmed the news Monday evening. “We have to presume that the travel ban for passengers from the UK to Germany, which is currently in place until 17th February, will be extended and that the Manchester City team will not be granted special permission to travel to Mönchengladbach," Gladbach CEO Stephan Schippers said in a club statement. “UEFA’s regulations state that as the home side we are required to find an alternative venue. For several reasons, we have decided to play the game at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest.
