Portland Timbers look to retain Felipe Mora - Julio Cascante traded to Austin FC
The Portland Timbers have started their roster restructuring. According to a report by MLSSoccer.com writer Tom Bogert, the Timbers have traded Costa Rican midfielder Julio Cascante to expansion side Austin FC in exchange for $250,000 in Allocation Money.
The Major League Soccer side also remain in negotiations with Liga MX side UNAM Pumas to acquire Felipe Mora. Mora is currently on loan at Portland and the Timbers have a $4 million purchase option. Bogert writes that the Timbers would like to restructure that deal. Negotiations, however, could be difficult, Mora has had a strong season and see his market value grow from $2 million to $4.4 million.
Meanwhile, ESPN reporter Jeff Carlise reported on Thursday that the Timbers have traded Marco Farfan to Los Angeles FC. The Timbers also appear in advance discussions to sign Claudio Bravo from the Argentine side Banfield.
